Setup and onboarding is free thanks to OHTO

This booking engine is available for free to tourism businesses in Ontario's Highlands Tourism Organization. All onboarding fees have been covered on your behalf by OHTO as part of their commitment to supporting you. The only cost is a transaction fee.

How do the fees work?

Booker uses Stripe — a world-class payment processing platform —to manage transactions; it charges the industry standard credit card processing fees of 2.95% plus 0.35¢ per transaction. When you are first brought on, our support team will help you set up your Stripe account. When a customer pays you, the money goes directly to your bank account — no intermediary. 

Booker takes a 4.95% fee on every transaction, but you pay just 1.96% of that — the customer pays the rest. On $10,000 revenue a month, that’s only $195 for full tech service and access to a ton of marketing services through OHTO along with reporting that makes it super easy to see where your business is coming from (and how you can get more of it.)


When and how do I get paid?

We work with you to set up a Stripe account, which plugs into your accounting software — and you choose. Either customers give a deposit and the remaining amount is billed automatically upon their arrival, or they are billed all at once. You determine your refund policy. We’re always looking for ways to make sure you hold on to any customer who wants to book with you.

Can I use another payment processor?

Booker uses Stripe exclusively for payment processing. You can accept payment in nearly any form, but the payment must be processed by Stripe, and you will need to have a Stripe account to receive your payments. We will help you set it up, and make sure it’s connected to your accounting software.

How do I leave Booker if it’s not right for me?

We’d love to understand your decision, but you don’t owe us anything. You can remove your business at any time. You own your Stripe account, and we don’t have access to it, so you can continue to use that if you choose. You’ll be removed from your DMO’s listing on Booker, but if you maintain your membership with them, you’ll still be part of their marketing campaigns.

What happens when I sell my business?

Booker can actually help you sell your business or easily transfer operations to a friend or family member. With your written permission, we are able to grant the new owner or operator access to your account while maintaining all of the pricing, add-ons and availability structures you’ve set up. In many cases, this is a selling feature if you’re listing your business for sale, helping you offer a turn-key marketing and fulfillment solution.

Can customers pay in cash?

Yes, however, you will need to manually enter their booking into the system and manually enter that they have paid when they do. Payment in cash is not available to consumers directly, so they will have to call you to reserve their spot.

Does Booker support integrations with other booking systems?

Booker does not support any integrations with other booking engines. Our belief is that other platforms take too much and don’t give back to the tourism community.

How do I ensure previous customers get special rates?

Booker can recognize the email address of your previous customers and ensure they are offered your repeat customer rate. You can also give them promo codes.
